The Arkansas County Writers Circle is nascent organization of Arkansas County (Arkansas) writers, who are interested in finding or developing innovative ways of publicizing and marketing their works. Meetings will be round-table discussions, although occasionally a member will lead the discussion when it deals with an area of the member’s expertise. There are no fees or requirements to attend meetings. Writers of any and all genres, regardless of writing experience, and non-writers with an interest in the art are welcome. Experienced authors tend to attend the meetings regularly. They share their experience and lessons learned with writers new to the craft and business of writing. Meetings will generally run for two hours (more or less) on the second Thursday of each month. A location for the meetings has not yet been established, but will probably be in either Stuttgart or DeWitt. For more information, contact us via the Arkansas County Writers Circle website.
I have modeled this Writers Circle after the one I established in Farmington, New Mexico, in 2015. They are still going strong. For information on that writers circle, visit the Farmington Writers Circle website.
After I founded the Farmington Writers Circle, I learned much more than I ever had previously about the challenges of publicizing and marketing one’s work. Experiences with finding agents, writing contests, writing an “elevator pitch”, how to use WordPress and other social media to their greatest effect, are only a few of the topics discussed at the Farmington Writers Circle. I hope to have the same or similar discussions here on topics that particularly plague the writers of Arkansas County.
